Miscellaneous Articles & Press Release Columns 1975 – 1977
The articles in this section of The "Historical Document" Archive, are "Miscellaneous Articles" in PDF format. As a bit of a background, I played my first boardgame in 1972 while stationed in the USAF. Almost immediately, I enjoyed the challenge of strategy and tactics inherent in these types of games. The first game I played was the "Introductory Game – Napoleon at Waterloo" which was published by Simulations Publications. After playing against a number of opponents (sometimes winning and sometimes losing) I ordered a Subscription to that wonderful magazine, "Strategy and Tactics". From 1973 through 1975 I waited eagerly for my new issues of Strategy & Tactics to arrive so I could play the latest game. From this point forward, there was no turning back as I had found a hobby that would become a life long passion. Sometime in late 1974 I visited the offices of Simulations Publications and was pulled even deeper into the hobby. As a result of my visit to SPI, I began writing and reproduced here are the first articles that I wrote: Some of the Early Articles from 1975 are below;
In 1975 I was also contacted to write a few articles as an Introduction to the Hobby. These articles, "Beginning Boardgaming" and "Boardgame Symbology" I believe are still valid today. While I can't remember what publications they were for, I have included them here in PDF format.
